I made my sister-in-laws birthday cake. She is a huge fan of purple so I made violets out of royal frosting and decorated the cake with them.

Bevan's Chocolate Cake - October 2006
Henry's step-dad was in town for his birthday so I made him a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. I also made the chocolate truffles on the cake. The truffles had a coconut creme filling. and the cake had a coconut pudding filling. See how it went together?;)

A better view of the sleeping baby on the top of the cake.
Mother's Day Cakes 2006
These were my first cakes I made that weren't for a class. I made two cakes for our Mother's Day celebration. One was white cake with raspberry filling and the other was a chocolate cake with coconut pudding filling.

Wilton Course 3 Cakes
Course 3 was the more difficult one. It was tiers and fondant. The tiers were easy, but I am not a fan of the fondant. It looks cool, but tastes gross. And it is hard to work with. It will get easier the more I work with it.
This is the practice fondant cake. The bow and flower are made with fondant too.
This is the course 3 graduation cake. The has to have elements from all 3 courses (5 elements total). I went with a music cake because I teach piano and love music! You can't see it but the writing is a music phrase.
Wilton Course 2 Cake
This is the Course 2 graduation cake. The birds are made with color flow . The flowers are mostly royal icing, a few are made with buttercream though. Henry claimed the cake had too much frosting! With the basket weave and rope border, it was a lot. And he always says "the cake is what holds up the frosting" so you know it had to be too much frosting.
