Kyle's Half Birthday Cake - August 2013

Kyle has become a fan of NASCAR, more specifically a fan of #78 Furniture Row Racing.  With Henry's connections we took a tour of the race shop for Kyle's party.  Of course I had to make a birthday cake that fit the party!  I made an 8" round cake, iced it smooth, cut out a piece of black fondant to fit the top of the cake.  I then had an edible image made of the cars number.  I cut it out and placed it on the fondant.  I then piped a shell boarder on the top and bottom.

Dave's Birthday Cake - August 2013

Henry's boss turned 50 this week.  Everyone in the office decided to throw him a party and Henry volunteered me to make the cake.  Dave is into sports cars, so the office decided they wanted a mountain with a road and a sports car driving "over the hill".  I made an 8" and 6" cake, I place the 6" on top of the 8" and carved them.  I iced them with green frosting and made a black road with sprinkles.  I made the trees and rocks out of fondant.  I used one of Kyle's matchbox cars for Dave's car (it was a Porsche).

Storm End of the Year Cupcakes - July 2013

Kyle's baseball team finished the season with only 1 loss, and they won the world series for their league.  After the season we have a big party to celebrate the kiddos.  I volunteered to make the dessert this year.   I made cupcakes in both white and chocolate, I used the 1M tip to frost them.  I then sprayed the cupcakes with black or red color mist (I left a few plain white too).  I also sprinkled them with black, red or white sprinkles.  I then printed a picture of each kiddo at bat, cut it out and glued it to a sucker stick and placed then in the cupcakes.  Each kiddo got their cupcake.

I cut out the team logo and placed it on the top cupcake.

Alyson's Wedding Cake - May 2013

My friend Cori asked me to make her daughters wedding cake.  Of course I said I would!  They were having the wedding reception at the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield in a barn.  They wanted a country setting for their reception.  It was a beautiful setting.

We decided on 3 cakes, each with a story to tell, and different flavors.

This is the cake table with all 3 cakes

This cake was a chocolate cake with coconut filling.  I iced it smooth and used ribbon to decorated it with the wedding colors and flowers used in the wedding party.

This cake was the centerpiece.  It was white cake with raspberry filling.  I iced it smooth and sprayed it with pearl shimmer.  I also used small pearl candies for the dots on the middle cake and the borders on each layer.  The shoe on top was from Disneyland.  Alyson and Derrik got engaged at Cinderella's castle at Disneyworld.  So we wanted something to represent that part of their story.

This cake was white cake with lemon filling.  I iced it smooth and used a burlap ribbon.  The giraffes on top represent their first date.  Derrik flew out to see Alyson over summer break.  They spent the whole week together.  One place they went was the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.  You can feed the giraffes there, and Alyson loves giraffes.
